#1 Men's Tennis Finishes SSC Championship as Runner-Up with 4-1 Loss to #8 Barry

LAKELAND, Fla. – The top-ranked Saint Leo University men's tennis team 2024 Sunshine State Conference tournament as the runner-up for the fourth-straight year. The Lions  fell 4-1 in the title match to the three-seed #8 Barry Buccaneers on Sunday at the Beerman Family Tennis Complex in Lakeland. The Lions are now 20-3 on the season.
 
Saint Leo's jumped out to a 1-0 lead winning the doubles, 2-1. #50 Eduardo Cohen and Vincent Thiel opened the match with a 6-2 victory at number three doubles. After the Bucs tied the doubles action with a win at number one doubles, Nicolas Bacella and Ghali Mensour posted a 6-2 win to clinch the doubles point for the early 1-0.
 
Barry won four straight singles matches to take the title. The Bucs won all four singles matches in straight sets including a win by retirement in the second set at number six singles.
