#7 Baseball Edges Rollins on the Road

WINTER PARK, Fla. – The seventh-ranked Saint Leo earned a 3-2 road victory at Rollins on Tuesday afternoon in non-conference play.

After the first four innings went scoreless, the Tars plated a run with solo home run. The Lions answered back in the seventh and tied the game at 1-1 as junior Nick Yedman scored classmate Callen Moss on a single to left field. Senior Mikey Scott extended the Saint Leo lead to 3-1 in the eighth following a two-run double to center field. Rollins trimmed its deficit to 3-2 in the bottom half of the eighth. After getting a lead-off hit in the ninth, the Tars were held at bay for the remainder of the inning.

Scott finished the game with one hit and two RBI while Yedman recorded one hit and one RBI. Graduate student Buck Anderson registered one hit in three at-bats and was walked once. Moss went 1-for-3 at the dish with one run scored and a base on-balls. Senior Aedan Walter started for the Lions and earned the win as he struck out a pair of batters and surrendered just two runs on eight hits. In relief, graduate student Nick Jennings closed the door on Rollins and collected his sixth save of the season with two strikeouts.

The Lions return to the field on Friday, April 5 as they host Nova Southeastern in Sunshine State Conference action at Thomas B. Southard Stadium, starting at 6 p.m.
