SAINT LEO, Fla. – The 13th-ranked Saint Leo University women's tennis center closed out its regular season with a 4-2 win over #27 Valdosta State University at home on Wednesday evening. The Lions clinched the doubles point and earned three singles wins to clinch their 14th win of the season.
Valdosta State opened the match with a 6-2 win at number three doubles. The Lions used a pair of doubles wins to clinch the point and take a 1-0 advantage.
Luzia Obermeier and
Lavinia Lancellotti won 7-5 to tie the doubles action and
Claudia Borbon Roca and
Catherine Rabatin clinched the doubles point for the home team with a 7-5 win at number two doubles.
The Blazers tied the match at 1-1 with a win at number three singles. Back-to-back wins by
Luzia Obermeier at number one singles and
Kamilya Shailina at number four singles to take a 3-1 lead over the visitors. Valdosta State cut Saint Leo's lead to one with a win at number two singles. Rabatin clinched the match for the Lions with a win at number six singles.
Camila Keller was leading 5-1 in the third set before her match was called due to the clinch by Rabatin.
