#7 Baseball Collects Series Win with Walk-Off Over Embry-Riddle

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Graduate student Buck Anderson secured a walk-off 4-3 victory for the seventh-ranked Saint Leo baseball with a sacrifice-fly versus Embry-Riddle on Sunday afternoon in Sunshine State Conference (SSC) action. With the win, the Lions captured the series 2-1.

In the bottom of the ninth, with the bases loaded and five infielders on defense, Anderson launched a deep fly-ball to center field that scored sophomore Ryan Crivello from third with the sacrifice-fly and the game-clinching run.

Saint Leo opened the game with a two-run single to left field from senior Mikey Scott in the first inning to plate Anderson and sophomore Dylan Mass. In the fourth, the Lions gained a 3-0 edge as senior Caleb Adams drove in classmate Cooper Miles with a sacrifice-fly to right field. The Eagles scored a pair of runs in the fifth to cut the deficit to 3-2 before they tied the game at 3-3 in the seventh with an RBI-double.

Junior Callan Moss went 2-for-3 at the plate while Miles collected two hits and scored a run. Anderson scored and registered a hit and Adams drove in one run and posted one hit. On the mound, freshman Russell Sandefer started for the Lions and collected a trio of strikeouts while allowing two runs (both earned) on four hits in 4.2 innings. In relief, graduate student Nick Jennings was dominate as he struck out a career-high five batters and held Embry-Riddle hitless in 2.1 innings as he earned the win.

Saint Leo returns to action on Thursday, March 28 as it travels to face Florida Southern at 6 p.m. in SSC play.
