SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo women's basketball team earned a staggering 95-47 victory in its final game of 2024 over Fort Lauderdale in a non-conference match up on Friday evening.
Head coach
Anthony Crocitto stated, "Our product looked good, but we were running through mud early. We found a way to speed the game up and we took advantage of the run in the second quarter. It was nice to see our rotational players take care of business. Alanis is the heartbeat, the rock, the soul. She holds it together and she just plays hard."
Junior
Alanis Diaz tallied her second double-double of the season with 19 points and 12 rebounds in addition to dishing out a pair of assists and one steal. Sophomore
Olivia Agunzo laced 13 points on 5-for-10 shooting from the field along with two assists. Freshman
Vanessa McManus notched nine points and recorded seven assists. Graduate student Jumoke Adaraymoye scored eight points and grabbed six boards while redshirt junior
Chynna Mattair posted seven points and six assists.
As a team, the Lions shot 53.2 percent from the field while holding the Eagles to just a 31.7 shooting percentage. The Lions scored 18 points off turnovers and 14 second chance points. The depth of Saint Leo was in full effect as the bench tallied 50 of its 95 points in addition to 54 points being scored in the paint.
The Lions return to the court on New Year's Day with a Sunshine State Conference (SSC) bout on the road at Barry, starting at 5:30 p.m.
