LAKELAND, Fla. - The Saint Leo University men's basketball team returned to action on Friday night in Lakeland. The Lions opened back-to-back days with an 83-76 loss to Morehouse College in the Century Retail Thanksgiving Classic hosted by #12 Florida Southern.
MOREHOUSE 83, SAINT LEO 76
First Half
- Saint Leo trailed early as Morehouse capitalized on second-chance points and inside scoring, building an eight-point halftime lead (34-26).
- The Lions shot just 30.8% from the field and 11.1% (1-for-9) from beyond the arc in the first half.
- Wilson carried the offense, scoring nine points and grabbing seven rebounds before the break.
- Saint Leo committed nine first-half turnovers, leading to easy baskets for Morehouse.
- Eric Jones and the Lions' defense worked to limit Morehouse's outside shooting, holding them to 18.2% (2-for-11) from three.
Second Half
- Wilson exploded in the second half, finishing with a career-high 29 points and 12 rebounds, going 13-for-17 from the free-throw line.
- The Lions shot 50% in the second half and knocked down four three-pointers, but it wasn't enough to overcome the deficit.
- Amar Hot contributed 15 points and six assists, helping keep Saint Leo within striking distance.
- Saint Leo converted 25-of-33 attempts from the line, while Morehouse capitalized on 21-of-27, maintaining their lead late.

UP NEXT
The Lions will return for the second day of the Century Retail Thanksgiving Classic (formerly known as the Mocs Thanksgiving Classic). Saint Leo will take on Clark Atlanta on Saturday with 5 p.m. tipoff. The Lions return home for a pair of SSC contests against local opponents to open the final month of 2024. Eckerd (Dec. 4) and Tampa (Dec. 6) will each make a trip the Bowman Center in the first week of December.
