Melbourne, Fla. – The Lions had to settle for a 1-1 draw with Florida Tech at Rick Stottler Field.
After beautiful goal in the first half by Luca Tiozzo, the Lions were able to go into the half with an early 1-0 lead. Liam Thomas was able to find his groove with the assist to get the Lions going early.
Ricardo Ceballos was very impressive defending the goal with 12 saves on the night.
Despite Ceballos' efforts, the Panthers were able to find the equalizer in the 59th minute to tie this game up early in the second half.
Even with the Panthers having the advantage with corner kicks 15-0, the Lions were able to keep the game tight with stellar defensive pressure.
The Lions came out very aggressive which gave them an advantage throughout this match, even in a physical match which saw a total of 15 fouls on the night.
Florida Tech was aggressive in the second half and were able to get off many shots on goal but after the equalizer, the Lions stood tall.
It was very competitive in the second half with both team looking to take the lead but ultimately the stayed deadlocked at 1-1.
The Lions return home on Sunday, Sept.10th against Clayton State. Kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m.
