LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) released the 2023 All-Region teams Wednesday afternoon, as Junior pitcher
Kayla Betts and Junior infielder
Alexandra Hare from the #10 Saint Leo University softball team were selected to the NFCA Division II All-South Region's First Team.
The awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association's eight regions with first and second-team selections. NFCA member head coaches from each respective region nominated their student-athletes and voted for the teams.
Betts has had an exceptional 2023 season as Saint Leo's ace, as the Leesburg, Fla. native finished the regular season leading NCAA DII in shutouts (15) and hits allowed per 7 inn. (2.65) while posting a Top 5 ERA (0.66). Betts is a six-time Sunshine State Conference Pitcher of the Week winner and was recognized as a Wilson/NFCA Pitcher of the Week on April 25th. Betts recently claimed the Sunshine State Conference's Pitcher of the Year award.
Through April, Hare recorded 79 Total Hits while leading the Lions with a .441 batting average. The native of Trinity, Fla. is a three-time Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week winner and a selection in the conference's All-First and All-Defensive Teams.

All honorees are now eligible for selection to the 2023 NFCA Division II All-America squads. The 2023 NFCA Division II All-America teams will be announced on Wednesday, May 24 at the NCAA Division II Championship banquet in Chattanooga, Tenn.
