TAMPA, Fla. – After weather suspended Game Three of the Sunshine State Conference series between the #11 Saint Leo University softball team and the #1 University of Tampa Spartans, the contest resumed in the bottom of the third, as UT built on its 3-0 lead to finish with a 5-1 win over the Lions to take the series Sunday afternoon at Naimoli Stadium.
Junior infielder
Alexandra Hare led the Lions (40-9, 21-6 SSC) with a 3-for-4 performance at the plate as Freshman infielder
Briana Neal went 2-for-4.
Junior pitcher
Kayla Betts (22-3) threw a total of four innings to allow seven hits, four earned runs and two strikeouts. Freshman utility
Haleigh Thomas entered the pitcher's circle for two innings of work, allowing two hits with no runs and one strikeout.
As play resumed, the Spartans (37-3, 25-2 SSC) added another run to extend its lead 4-0 before the Lions found its lone run of the contest in the top of the fourth on a RBI single from Sophomore outfielder

The Green & Gold conclude the regular season this weekend with a three-game Sunshine State Conference series against Rollins College. First pitch at University Softball Stadium is scheduled for Friday at 6 p.m.
