SAINT LEO, Fla.- Due to weather the series finale doubleheader resumed on Sunday. The first game of the doubleheader picked up in the eighth inning after being suspended due to inclement weather in the area, Saturday. #3 University of Tampa took the first game of the afternoon, 6-3. The Lions offensive bats came to play in the rubber match of the series, defeating #3 University of Tampa to secure the series upset.

The Lions now sit at 26-18 on the season and 14-10 in the SSC.

GAME ONE:
Â
The Lions would get on the board early to begin the second game of their series against #3 University of Tampa. Mikey Scott would drive in the first run of the game with one out bunt to score Cooper Miles. Bobby Sparling would bring in the second run of the inning after hitting into a fielders choice to score Scott.

The Spartans would cut the lead down to one run in the top of the third.
Luke Houin would race home and score the Lions third run of the game on a passed ball. #3 Tampa would knot the game up at three in the top of the fifth inning.
Jestin Jones afternoon would come to a close in the top of the eighth after the Spartans would score two runs to grab the lead from the Lions. Jones threw seven innings of work, striking out two of 33 batters faced.
The #3 Spartans were able to hold off the Lions and secure the second game of the series, 6-3.
GAME TWO:
The Lions kicked off the scoring in the bottom of the third inning. Yazael Nunez would reach safely and make his way to scoring position thanks to a throwing error. Cooper Miles would drive in the first run of the game with a one-run double into the left center gap. Mikey Scott would bring home the second run of the inning with an RBI single up the middle.
The #3 Spartans charged back when E.J. Cumbo hit a game tying two run homer to right field.
Adrian Roa would drive a shot to the deepest part of Thomas B. Southard Stadium for a go-ahead solo homer in the bottom half of the fourth.
Tampa would score one run in the fifth and sixth innings to steal the lead from the Lions.
Mike Wyman would answer right back in the bottom half of the s with a three-run homer to give the Lions the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning.
The Lions would continue to pile runs together to extend their lead in the rubber match. Eddie Niemann III would add two more runs with a two-run single to extend the Lions lead to four runs.
Nick Jennings would come in for relief for the Lions in a bases loaded jam in the top of the eighth inning. Jennings was able to secure an inning ending strikeout to keep the Lions, 8-4 lead alive heading into the ninth.
Buck Anderson would an extra insurance run in the bottom of the eighth, hitting a sacrifice fly with the bases loaded.
The Lions will travel to Winter Park, Florida to face #10 Rollins College. First pitch is scheduled for Friday, May 5th at 6:00 P.M.
