TAMPA, Fla. – The #11 Saint Leo University softball team engaged in another defensive slugfest against the top-ranked team in NCAA DII Saturday, but the Lions could not bounce back from a fielding error in the sixth inning that led to the lone run scored in the contest, giving #1 Tampa the 1-0 win to even the series Saturday at Naimoli Stadium.
Once again, Saint Leo (40-8, 21-5 SSC) outhit the Spartans (36-3, 24-2 SSC), tallying five hits while conceding three to UT. Junior infielder
Alexandra Hare and Fifth-year outfielder Bailey Williams each went 2-for-3 at the dish, as Freshman outfielder
Bianca Polistina recorded the other hit.

Haleigh Thomas (6-2) registered her second complete game of her career, allowing no earned runs with one walk and striking out three.
With Saturday initially scheduled as a doubleheader, the second game went to three innings before the contest was suspended due to weather. The rubber match will resume Sunday at 3 p.m. Tampa led 3-0 before the game was called.
