SAINT LEO, Fla – #2 Saint Leo Women's Tennis Lions win a tough fought 7-0 matchup over #23 Florida Southern.
This improves the Lions to 16-2 on the season.
In double action, the Lions battled with the Mocs but ultimately won two out of the three matches.
The #2 duo of
Marta Vicens Miquel and Lavinia Lancelotti kicked things off for the lions with a tight 7-6 win. They were followed by the pair of
Luzia Obermeier and
Kamilya Shailina who took care of business with a swift 6-1 win.
"We had to dig deep to win the doubles point and were fortunate enough to play well and close out the third set match tiebreakers," said Coach
Chad Berryhill.
In singles action, the Lions swept the Mocs but nearly match was a close one as the Green & Gold stepped up in big moments.

Marta Vicens Miquel kicked off the momentum for the Lions with a close 3-6, 7-6, 10-2 win.

Claudia Borbon Roca also went back and forth in her matchup with a 6-4, 1-6, 10-7 win.
The rest of the team involved in singles matches continued the successful ways as the Green & Gold ended things on top 7-0.
"First off, Florida Southern is a very tough team and a 7-0 win does not reflect how competitive this match was. We knew it would be a battle today and the match did not disappoint," said Coach Berryhill.
Saint Leo is back in action on April 1st at 10:00am as they welcome the #3 Nova Southeastern Sharks to the Saint Leo Tennis Center.
