WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The Saint Leo men's tennis team was victorious in Palm Beach, Florida Wednesday Afternoon against conference opponent Palm Beach Atlantic Wednesday afternoon, 7-0.
"The guys were dominate today. A couple of slow starts in singles but we played well overall. The conditions were challenging today with the wind we kept our focus and got the job done" said head coach
Chad Berryhill.
The Green and Gold Opened up doubles action with a sweep against the Sailfish to kick off Wednesday afternoon's match.
Vincent Thiel and
Ghali Mensour started the afternoon with a 6-3 win. The pair of
Ivan Marrero and
Tao Bernal Castillo would follow suit with a 6-0 sweep heading into the last doubles match of the afternoon.
Nicolas Bacella and
Luis Iriarte would close doubles action with a 6-0 victory for the Lions.
Marrero kicked off singles action with a win in straight sets against Roberto Binaghi, 6-2 & 6-0.
Martin Soukal followed suit claiming another straight set victory for the Green & Gold, 6-1 & 6-2.
Vincent Thiel added another point to the board for the Lions defeating Juanfer Contreras, 6-2 & 6-2.
Nicolas Bacella would claim the Lions fourth straight set victory over the Sailfish with his win over Blake Williams.
Ghali Mensour and
Luis Iriarte would close out Wednesday evenings match with two more victories.
Saint Leo will once again be in action tomorrow, February 9
th  as they matchup against Embry-Riddle University. It is scheduled for a 3pm start time.
