SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo women's basketball team is back on the road and this time they are playing the number one ranked team in the SSC, Tampa University.
GAME 23
The Lions head into their matchup versus the Spartans off the back of a tough loss versus the Embry-Riddle Eagles. They currently have an 11-11 record overall including a 4-10 record in the SSC.
Player to Watch
Freshman
Taydra Simpson has been playing some of her best basketball of the season recently and has had to put a lot of team's performances on her back even though this is the first year in her collegiate career. Versus the Eagles, she had 11 points, three assists, two steals and one block.
Players Ranked in the SSC
Amanda Ulrich – Ulrich is the leading scorer in the SSC (18.5 PPG), fifth in minutes played (707), fifth in three-point shots per game (2.1) and eighth in Free Throw percentage (83.5%).
Alex Button – Button currently sits sixth in three-point percentage (39.8%) seventh in field goal percentage (47.5%), seventh in blocked shots (11) and 10th in points per game (13.2 PPG).
Kiki McIntyre – McIntyre remains first in steals (63), 11th in total assists (71), and 22nd in points per game (10.7)
Jumoke Adaramoye – Adaramoye is currently ranking 11th in steals (35) and 14th in rebounds per game (5.0),
Scouting Tampa University Spartans
The Spartans are led by 21st year Head Coach Tom Jessee. Jessee has brought the Spartans to the NCAA Tournament 11 times in the past 16 years. He became the first coach to lead the Spartans to back-to-back NCAA Tournaments. On the court, they are led by Freshman Sydney Kin who in her first collegiate year is averaging 18 PPG.
Upcoming
The Lions will be back at the Marion Bowman Activites Center to welcome Nova Southeastern and look to avenge a loss from earlier this season. The game is on February 11th and tip-off is scheduled for 3:30pm.
