SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo men's tennis glided to a 7-0 win over Ave Maria on Friday during the home opener. This win gives the Lions the exact start that Head Coach Chad Berryhill wanted.

 
In doubles action, Ivan Marrero and Tao Castillo cruised to 6-1 win. Martin Soukal and Luis Iriarte do just as their counter parts and register a 6-1 win in the third flight.
 
In singles action, Marrero recorded a 6-2, 6-3 victory in the first flight. Soukal followed up with a 6-1, 6-1 win to close out his own match.
 
Vincent Thiel's game went to the third set where he won the first set 6-4. He fell in the second 1-6, and followed up strong in the third with 6-2 match clinch.
 
Ghali Mensour also went to three sets of his own just like his matchup almost a year ago versus Ave Maria. The same result happened here as Mensour won the first set 6-4 and the third set 6-3.
Closing out was Iriarte with the 6-4, 6-2 win and also Henrique Bertoli with 6-2, 7-5 win.
 
The Lions will next be in action in a Sunshine State Conference matchup versus Palm Beach Atlantic. That will be on February 5th at 2pm in West Palm Beach, Florida.
