SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo University Men's basketball team begins the final month of the regular season Saturday, as the Lions will host Embry-Riddle (Fla.) in a critical Sunshine State Conference matchup.
Heading into the weekend, the SSC standings have never been closer, with the second through ninth place teams all within a game and a half of one another. Recently, there have been some unforeseen results within the past week for Saint Leo (16-8, 7-6 SSC), including the team's 75-70 setback to Palm Beach Atlantic before the Green & Gold rebounded Tuesday to defeat Paine College 98-53.
The Lions have averaged nearly 55% from the field and 47% from beyond the perimeter in the last four contests. On the defensive side, the Green & Gold is closing in on its best performance of the season, limiting opponents to under 42% from the floor and under 32% long range.
Similarly, Embry-Riddle (Fla.) (15-6, 8-6 SSC) has been red-hot heading into the weekend tilt, winning three of its last four with its loss being a four-point difference (75-71) to Eckerd. The Eagles will look to avenge a 76-75 defeat as Saint Leo pulled away victorious after a pair of clutch baskets made by Sophomore guard
Grant Disken.
Saint Leo is in search of its 10th win all-time versus ERAU, leading the overall series 9-4.
Tipoff at the Marion Bowman Activities Center is scheduled for 6 p.m. Fans unable to attend can follow the live action from the links below:
