SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo University Men's basketball team's final dress rehearsal for the Sunshine State Conference tournament was a smooth one Saturday night, as the Lions evened the regular season series with Eckerd with an 87-53 win at the Marion Bowman Activities Center to clinch the No. 2 seed in the Sunshine State Conference tournament.
Saint Leo (22-9, 13-7 SSC) completes the regular season with 13 conference wins, the most in program history.
The Lions shot 45.6% from the floor and over 35% from long range, as guard
Kanon Koster led the Green & Gold with 27 points, shooting 6-of-7 from the field and 14-of-15 from the charity stripe. Junior forward
Jared Coomer matched a season-high 10 rebounds.
Defensively, Saint Leo kept the Tritons under 32% from the floor, recording 11 steals.
The Lions are back on the hardwood floor Tuesday, drawing seventh-seeded Rollins for the Quarterfinals contest. Tipoff against the Tars has been set for 7 p.m.
