SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo University Men's basketball team is set to host the second meeting against #2/#1 Nova Southeastern Saturday in Sunshine State Conference play.
Saint Leo (18-8, 9-6 SSC) will look to build off its 77-72 win over Tampa that saw the Lions find a way to keep atop the Spartans despite two UT players posting 20+ points. The Green & Gold head into Saturday's contest averaging nearly 50% from beyond the perimeter in the last three games.
In Wednesday's win over Tampa, Guard
Kanon Koster led the Lions with 21 points on the night, as Fifth-year forward
Marty Jackson fell one board shy of a double-double (15 points). Freshman guard
Owen Pawlikowski saw limited shots, but the Combined Locks, Wis. native made the best of his chances, shooting 5-for-7 from the floor including 3-for-5 from beyond the arch.
With #1/#2 Indiana (Pa.) falling to #24/RV Mercyhurst Wednesday, the Sharks (22-0, 15-0 SSC) are now the lone, unbeaten team in NCAA DII. While NSU continues to maintain an average of over 106 points scored, the team has had some close calls, including a nail-biting 114-107 win over Florida Southern.
In the earlier meeting at Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Saint Leo was able to maintain a single-digit difference with Nova Southeastern before the Sharks ran a way with the game in the second half.
Tipoff at the Marion Bowman Activities Center is slated for 6 p.m. Fans unable to attend can follow the live action from the links below:
