MIAMI SHORES, FL - In a challenging matchup at the Marion Bowman Center, the Saint Leo Lions faced a familiar opponent in the Barry Buccaneers and unfortunately fell short in a 0-3 defeat (18-25, 16-25, 18-25). The loss brings the Lions' overall record to 9-20, with a conference record of 4-16 in the Sunshine State Conference.
The individual performances of the Saint Leo players showcased resilience and determination despite the outcome.
Madi Certain displayed offensive prowess with 12 kills and a hitting percentage of .417.
Reagan Hopp and
Kennedy DeLuca also made notable efforts with six and four kills, respectively. Setter
Tajma Muharemovic demonstrated her playmaking skills with 24 assists, contributing to the offensive efforts of the team. Despite the commendable efforts, the Lions faced a formidable Barry defense that proved challenging to overcome.
Defensively, the team fought hard with 40 digs, with
Jeanette Henderson leading the way with 15 digs. However, the Barry offense, led by Diana Akopova and Varvara Osychenko, proved to be a formidable force.
