Box Score SAINT LEO, FL - In a thrilling showdown at the Marion Bowman Center, the Saint Leo Lions women's basketball team secured a hard-fought victory against Central St. (OH) with a final score of 78-72. The packed arena of fans witnessed a nail-biting matchup that showcased a high-level matchup.
The first quarter set the tone for the matchup, with both teams deadlocked at 19 points each. The Lions and Central St. exchanged blows in a high-paced game.
As the second quarter unfolded, the defensive efforts on both sides limited scoring opportunities. The teams entered halftime with a tied score of 33-33, setting the stage for a dramatic second half.
The Lions faced a slight deficit entering the fourth quarter, trailing 46-52. However, a remarkable offensive surge led by
Jumoke Adaramoye,
Alanis Diaz, and
Taydra Simpson propelled Saint Leo to outscore Central St. 26-12 in the final period.
Adaramoye's outstanding performance included a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds, showcasing her prowess in the paint. Diaz contributed 14 points followed by Simpson pitching in 12 points and three steals, displaying their versatility and composure in critical moments.
Chynna Mattair also played a pivotal role, adding 12 points and contributing to crucial defensive stops. The Lions' bench proved to be an asset tonight, outscoring Central St. 23-40.
The game saw 12 lead changes, emphasizing the competitiveness and resilience of both teams. The Lions capitalized on turnovers, scoring 23 points off Central St.'s mistakes.

Enough can't be said about the effort on the glass (60 rebounds) and commitment to getting to the foul line was extraordinary today with 46 free throws.
