Lions Secure a Convincing Victory Over the Savannah St. Tigers

Nov 11, 2023

Box Score SAINT LEO, FL - In a great display of resilience, the Saint Leo Lions bounced back with a resounding 73-61 victory over the Savannah St. Tigers at the Marion Bowman Center. Head Coach Lance Randall commended his team for showcasing consistent grit and receiving outstanding contributions, particularly from the bench, in the second half.

"Great bounce back win. We showed some consistent grit today and got great contributions off our bench, especially in the 2nd half. Jeremy and Amar and Logan gave us a great lift on both sides of the ball," remarked Coach Randall, highlighting the impactful performances of Jeremy Sanchez, Amar Hot, and Logan Ryan off the bench.

The Lions' bench proved to be a game-changer, providing energy and efficiency into the team's play. Jeremy Sanchez and Amar Hot's contributions were pivotal, providing a much-needed lift in the latter part of the game.

Coach Randall was quick to acknowledge the outstanding efforts of Cantia Rahming (11 points, 14 rebounds and 2 blocks) and Kanon Koster (24 points and 9 rebounds), who played key roles in securing the win. "Cantia was a beast on the glass, and Kanon really rolled on offense. A good win against a Savannah State team that has won the last 2 SIAC East divisions."

Rahming's dominance on the boards, securing an impressive 14 rebounds, was crucial in controlling the flow of the game. Kanon Koster's offensive prowess, particularly in the paint, added a layer of complexity to the Lions' strategy that the Tigers struggled to contain.

Despite the victory, Coach Randall remained focused on areas for improvement. "We have to do a better job of valuing the basketball on the offensive end. Lots to work on next week in practice, but good W," he noted. The acknowledgment of the need for continuous improvement reflects the Lions' commitment to reaching new heights in the upcoming challenges.

As the Saint Leo Lions savor this well-earned victory, fans can anticipate an exciting journey ahead. The Marion Bowman Center witnessed a display of talent, teamwork, and determination that sets the tone for what promises to be an exciting season.
