Late Penalty Kick Lifts Lions Over Eagles

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo men's soccer team broke through Saturday evening and snapped a three-game skid as they knocked off the Eagles of Embry-Riddle 1-0 at the Saint Leo Soccer Field.

The Lions were also paced by Forward Mauro Diaz and Forward Anel Rojas both with four shots on the night.

It was a battle early on with both teams playing very aggressively looking to get on the board early.

The Lions managed to get off 25 shots on the night versus 13 for the Eagles.  The Green and Gold were led by Midfielder Edoardo Degl'Innocenti with six shots on the night, including a penalty kick goal in the 80th minute that ultimately was the game-winning goal for the Lions.

Goalkeeper Ricardo Ceballos notched two saves on the night playing a solid role in the Lion's big home victory.

The Lions hit the road for a conference matchup next Wednesday, Oct. 25 versus Nova Southeastern University. Kickoff is slated to begin at 6:00 p.m.
