SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo women's basketball team fell to visiting Sunshine State Conference opponent Lynn University, Wednesday evening. The Lions fell to the Fighting Knights, 78-71.
With the loss the Green & Gold drop to 9-6 overall and 2-6 in the Sunshine State Conference.
The Lions kept up with the visiting Lynn Fighting Knights throughout the whole course of the game. The weekend conference showdown featured a tight matchup with both teams exchanging the lead seven times with nine ties throughout the course of the evening.
The Lions biggest lead of the night came at the 7:47 mark when
Kiki McIntyre hit a layup to give the Green & Gold a four-point lead. The Lions held the lead from the Fighting Knights for a total of 13:35 minutes.
Amanda Ulrich sparked a Lions run at the 3:48 mark in the fourth quarter with a fastbreak layup. The Lions six-point run was their largest run of the evening.
Saint Leo shot for their best percentages in the game during the first quarter at 50% (7-of-14) from the field and 50% (1-of-2) from three-point range and the third quarter shooting for another 50% on 10-of-20 from the field.
The Lions offense scored 34 points in the paint Saturday evening.
Amanda Ulrich led the charge with her 22 points. The senior from Secaucus, New Jersey shot 7-of-15 from the field and 2-of-6 from downtown.
Kiki McIntyre finished second on the team in points with 16.
On the defense of side of the court
Jumoke Adaramoye led the Green & Gold with four steals. Adaramoye finished with 10 points, a team-high eight rebounds, and one steal.
The Lions forced 11 steals throughout the game and had two blocks. Saint Leo finished the evening scoring ten points off turnovers.
The Lions will return to action Wednesday, January 11
th when they travel to Lakeland, Florida for a midweek Sunshine State Conference showdown against Florida Southern College. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 PM.
