SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo's Head Baseball Coach
Rick O'Dette has announced a promotion inside his coaching staff as
Mitchell Wydetic, who has been a part of the coaching staff since 2021 is now the newest assistant coach of the Lions.
"We are thrilled to elevate Coach Wydetic"Â said O'Dette. "In his time here he has brought energy, knowledge and has showed a work ethic that is off the charts. Â Well deserved promotion."Â
In his sixth season as Head Coach coming off a very successful run that saw the Lions reach the NCAA Tournament, Coach O'Dette has upgraded his staff's ranking once again in hopes of repeating and possibly going even further when it comes to following up on last season's results.
Coach Wydetic is a University of Florida alum who was the Student Manager of the Gators 2017 National Championship team. After his time there, he joined Coach O'Dette's staff in the Fall 2021.
"Being a part of this team and Coach O'Dette's staff is a blessing for me and I am excited for this upcoming baseball season," said Coach Wydetic.
During his time here with the Green and Gold, Coach Wydetic has primarily worked with the infielders as well as assisting with hitting.
He joined the Lions after serving two seasons at Saint Petersburg College as an assistant coach where he helped organize, schedule and operate the daily practices while serving as the primary coach for outfielders. He also served as the third base coach on game days.
