#2/#2 Sharks Outlast Lions

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Saint Leo University Men's basketball team displayed strong shooting from the field, but too many second-chance points allowed by the Lions gave #2 Nova Southeastern the edge Saturday evening, besting the Green & Gold 106-84 at Rick Case Arena.

While NSU (16-0, 9-0 SSC) had 24 more shot opportunities, Saint Leo (13-6, 5-4 SSC) not only shot better than the Sharks, but also posted the best field percentage against NSU this season (.552).  The Lions additionally became the fifth team to limit the Sharks to under 50% from the field

Guard Kanon Koster posted another good total for the books, leading all scorers with 24 points and shooting 9-for-16 from the floor and 3-for-6 long range.  Koster additionally tallied six boards and six assists apiece while grabbing three blocks and two steals.

Sophomore guard Grant Disken was also in a shooting groove, finishing the day at 50% with a 60% rate from beyond the arch, tallying 19 points.

Coach's Quotes
"We had a lot of self-made errors tonight" said Head Coach Lance Randall.  "Too many front court turnovers; the decision-making was not there on when to take the layup and when to run the offense."

"This has to be more efficient.  The biggest stat lines of the game was their offensive rebounding (20) and their (25) second-chance points to our 0; that's a win crusher."

"We battled against an elite team that is averaging a 34-point scoring margin in our league.  You don't have to play a perfect game to beat them but you have to be physical and efficient.  We battled but we were neither of the aforementioned.  They haven't lost a {regular season} game in three or four years.  It's time for us to move on to prepare for Rollins."

The Lions host the Tars Wednesday, with tipoff set for 7:30 p.m.
