MILLBROOK, Ala. – The Saint Leo University Men's soccer team began the 2022 season with a roar heard around the South Region, as a second-half goal from Sophomore
Noah Kvifte was all the Green & Gold needed in a monumental 1-0 upset win over #8 Auburn-Montgomery Thursday night at Grandview Turf Field.
Saint Leo (1-0) braved the weather in a contest that saw limited opportunities on both sides. While the Warhawks (0-1) outshot the Lions 7-3, Graduate Goalkeeper
Ricardo Ceballos shined in his debut donning the Green & Gold, recording three saves on the night.
The lone goal of the match came in the 57th minute as Kvifte capitalized on his lone shot to the lower left of the net, thanks to a setup pass from fellow Sophomore
Sebastian Inigo.
"I'm really proud and excited for our guys to start off the season with a massive win on the road" exclaimed Head Coach
Brett Parker. "All the credit goes to the boys for their effort and focus the past three weeks of preseason. It doesn't get any easier though as we have another top regional opponent on Saturday at West Florida."
