SAINT LEO, Fla. - The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association announced its 2022 NCAA Division II All-America teams on Thursday, and
Bobby Sparling was awarded his second All-America honor of the spring.
The junior outfielder from Palm Coast, Florida was named to the NCBWA All-America Second Team. The only other Sunshine State Conference representative on the Second Team was Tampa's Haden Erbe. Sparling is the first Lion to be awarded NCBWA All-America honors since
Paul Coumoulos who was named a 2022 Preseason All-America Honorable Mention.
Sparling had a season to remember for the Lions, leading Saint Leo with 21 home runs, 63 RBI's, 72 hits, a .728 slugging percentage, and a .450 on-base percentage. The Palm Coast, Florida product was tenth in conference batting average hitting .356 and eighth in runs scored with 46. He also led the conference in home runs and was second in RBI's.
This is the junior outfielders sixth award of the postseason. He was named Sunshine State Conference Player of the Year and to the All-SSC First Team, the Conference Commissioners Association South Region Player of the Year and the CCA South Region First Team, the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association South Region Player of the Year and NCBWA South Region First Team, named ABCA/Rawlings South All-Region Position Player of the Year and to the South All-Region First Team, and was named to the Conference Commissioners Association All-America Second Team.
