Lions’ Season Concludes in NCAA South Regional II

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Saint Leo men's tennis team's 2022 season concluded after the opening round of the NCAA South Regional Championship inside the Crotty Tennis Complex. The ninth-seed Lynn Fighting Knights escaped the third-seed Saint Leo Lions in a heartbreaking 4-3 loss. Under the direction of head coach Chad Berryhill, the Green and Gold put together an impressive 19-6 overall record: tallying the program's seventh straight NCAA postseason appearance, 10th all-time regional trip.
 
Bruno Faletto leveled the match taking the first singles flight after Lynn snagged the doubles' point. No. 4 Faletto concluded his tremendous career as a Lion in a big 7-5, 6-1 victory over No. 55 Diego Gonzalez.
 
The match remained tied at 2-2 following the four and five matches. Ghali Mensour recorded the Lions' second team point in the fourth flight; 6-2, 7-6.
 
Brad Eidenmuller claimed the temporary lead at 3-2 for the Green and Gold winning the sixth singles battle; 7-6 (7-5), 6-1.
 
Lynn's Lucca Baptista in the second flight tallied the equalizer at three match points. The dramatic NCAA South Regional match between the Sunshine State Conference foes was decided in the third set of the third flight. No. 27 Vincent Thiel topped No. 69 Igancio Martinez in the first set; 7-5. Marinez then struck back in the second set; 6-1. Lynn escaped the Lions' efforts in the tie breaker; 7-6 (7-3).
