SAINT LEO, Fla. – The No. 8 Saint Leo women's tennis team notched its 13
th win of the season sweeping Florida Southern 7-0 on Thursday. The Sunshine State Conference decision raised the Lions' overall record to 13-1, 4-1 in the league.
Saint Leo took all three flights in doubles action.
Nina Furmaniak and
Alina Fedulova kept the slate clean with a 6-4 win in the first flight.
No. 24
Marta Vicens Miquel registered a 6-3, 6-4 first flight victory followed by No. 26
Nina Furmaniak who recorded a 6-2, 6-1 second flight victory.
Celina Ermann won a long 6-3, 7-5 battle in the third flight. Meanwhile,
Lavinia Lancellotti,
Maria Valverde Soler, and No. 36
Kamilya Shailina each won three-set battles in the fourth, fifth, and sixth flights, respectively.
The Green and Gold returns to action on Saturday, April 2 on the road at Lynn. First serve between the Lions and Fighting Knights is set for 10:00 a.m. in Boca Raton, Fla.
