Softball Falls In Final Game At #20 Rollins In Final At Bat

WINTER PARK, Fla. - Saint Leo Softball suffered a tough loss in game two on Saturday in a doubleheader at #20 Rollins, 1-0, and have now dropped their last seven games on the season.

The Lions and Tars were scoreless for the first six innings, and then going into the bottom of the seventh inning. That was when the Tars walked off on Saint Leo in the first two batters. After the first batter was hit by a pitch and advanced to third on a stolen base and overthrow, the next Tars batter singled her home to give Rollins the sweep of the Lions with a 1-0 walk off win.

For the Lions, starter Morgan Shannon did yeomen's work for Saint Leo to keep Rollins off the board for the first six innings. She gave up just five hits through the first six innings while striking out three and walking just one. Shannon got out of a jam in the second when she let the first two hitters on, but then sat down the next three. Rollins then loaded the bases in the bottom of the fifth, but Shannon stood strong and still kept the Tars from crossing home plate.

The Lions' offense was able to muster up three hits and walked just once, leaving five runners stranded in game two.

The Lions now drop to 18-11 on the season and 7-8 in the SSC before heading to Nova Southeastern next Friday to begin a three-game series with the Sharks at 6:00.
