Box Score WINTER PARK, Fla. - Saint Leo Softball came up just short in a tough battle at #20 Rollins, 4-0, in the series opener of three games on Friday night.Â
The Lions and Tars battled through 5.2 innings in Winter Park to start the game. Saint Leo starter
Morgan Shannon battled through some tough situations in the first four innings, leaving six runners on base for Rollins to keep the Tars at bay and the Lions in the game. The Tars finally struck for the first run in the fifth with two out, scoring on a throwing error. Rollins then extended it out to four with a three-run home run in the bottom of the sixth.Â
Saint Leo's offense had a runner reach base in every inning, however, the Lions were unable to move past second base.Â
Morgan Shannon went five innings of work giving up two runs and three hits while striking out five.
Kayla Betts relieved Shannon and threw one inning, giving two runs on two hits and finishing with two strikeouts.Â
The Lions and Tars will be back in action on Saturday for game two of the series at 1:00.Â
