SAINT LEO, Fla. – The No. 2 Saint Leo men's tennis team fell 5-2 to No. 1 Barry Sunday afternoon inside the Saint Leo Tennis Center. The nation's best tennis teams battled for a regular season Sunshine State Conference match up, moving the Lions' overall record 12-3, 1-2 in the SSC while Barry improved to 11-4, 5-1 in the league.
Brad Eidenmuller and
Vincent Thiel won the second doubles match 6-3 over Tim Buttner and Hugo Cazban. Despite the win, the Buccaneers edged the Lions taking first doubles (6-3) and third doubles in extra points; 7-6 (7-4).
Edienmuller and Thiel each went 2-0 on the day. Thiel took third singles 6-4, 6-2 to tie the match up at 1-1. Barry followed up with a wins at the first, second, fourth, and fifth flights. Edienmuller registered the Lions' second points in the sixth flight; 7-5, 6-4.
Saint Leo will look to bounce back on Wednesday, March 23 hosting Florida Southern at 3:00 p.m.
