SAINT LEO, Fla. –
Maria Palomba did it again in the circle for the Saint Leo Lions, ranked 23
rd in the nation. The newcomer snagged a program-record 15 draw controls in the Green and Gold's 20-10 win over Alabama-Huntsville in the program's home opener Friday night. The dominate victory recorded the Lions' first visit to the win column of 2022, now 1-1 overall, while handing the Chargers a 0-1 start.

Palomba added a pair of goals and an assist for three points, picked up a team-high five ground balls, and two caused turnovers to her 15 draw controls.

Palomba's work to hand the Lions possession set up an incredibly efficient offensive night.
Lia Lamendola netted six goals for six points followed by
Ashlee Wilsynski with eight points scoring a hat-trick and five assists.
Meghan Bomleny's shape passes also registered five assists adding to her goal for a six-point opening night.

Down 4-2 after the first quarter, Saint Leo answered the Chargers quick start with a three-goal run in to take the lead 5-4. Saint Leo closed the door on Alabama-Huntsville with nine goals in the third.

Liz Clark earned the start in the net followed by Makyala Goetz who saw her first collegiate action between the pipes.

Saint Leo returns in action on Thursday, Feb 17 at 7:00 p.m. to host Grand Valley State at the University Turf Stadium.
