Lions Pick up Midweek Win Over Keiser

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo University Men's basketball team took care of business Tuesday night, defeating the Keiser Seahawks 72-60 at the Marion Bowman Activities Center.

Saint Leo (6-3, 2-1 SSC) hit 47% of its shots and nearly 82% from the charity stripe in a contest that saw the Lions lead by only single digits the majority of the time.

For the fourth, straight game, Sophomore forward Cantia Rahming shot 63.6% or better from the field, going 5-for-6 with 13 points and six boards.  Guards Grant Disken, Kanon Koster, and Owen Pawlikowski posted double-digit scoring marks.

Keiser (5-3, 3-1 SUN) pulled out to an early 6-2 lead before the Lions quickly erased the gap and kept the contest tight.  With the game tied 13-13 midway through the first half, Koster's 3-Ptr. gave the Green & Gold the lead for good (16-13), igniting an eight-point run that gave the Lions some cushion room.

The Lions had a lead as large as 12 in the second half before the Seahawks responded with an 11-1 run to cut the difference to one (57-56) in the waning part of the contest.  With under five minutes left, the scare was enough for Saint Leo to score seven straight to fuel a finishing 15-4 run to take the 72-60 win.

The Green & Gold are off to Eckerd Saturday evening to face the Tritons in Sunshine State Conference play; tipoff is set for 5 p.m.
