SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo University Men's basketball team is set for a special Tuesday night, as Fritz makes his grand return to the Marion Bowman Activities Center in the Lions' contest against the Keiser Seahawks.
Saint Leo (5-3, 2-1 SSC) now rides a three-game winning streak, coming off an upset win over #13 Embry-Riddle (Fla.) 76-75 before downing Palm Beach Atlantic 82-70. The Lions' field defense averaged under 39% of shots allowed to the Eagles and Sailfish while hitting over a combined 53% from the field.
Sophomore Guard
Grant Disken had one of the biggest impacts in Saint Leo's upset victory over #13 Embry-Riddle (Fla.), hitting a go-ahead corner three late in the game before scoring the game-winning basket off a fade-away jumper that gave the Lions a 76-75 win. Disken has now shot 60% or better in the team's last three contests.
Freshman Guard
Owen Pawlikowski has continued to smoothly adjust to NCAA play, recently hitting a combined 75% from the field that included draining five of six shots from beyond the perimeter.
The SUN meets Sunshine State, as Keiser (5-3, 3-1 SUN) is part of the NAIA's Sun Conference. While Tuesday is considered an exhibition for the Seahawks, the team will look to bounce back from an 85-58 defeat to Webber International. KU has four players averaging double digits in scoring and shooting 43% from the court.
Fifth-Year Guard Core'Von Lott leads KU in scoring (16.6 points), shooting nearly 40% from the floor, while tallying 3.5 assists. The Chicago, Ill. native has been reliable at the free-throw line, shooting an impressive 89.7%. Defensively, Lott posts 2.4 steals a game.
Keiser also holds its own in the paint, with two players averaging a block a game in Forward Shaq Harris (1.4) and Guard Brandon Younger (1.0).
