MBB Set to Host Palm Beach Atlantic

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo University Men's basketball team is at home Saturday and will host Sunshine State Conference foe Palm Beach Atlantic.

The Lions (4-3, 1-1 SSC) are fresh off a contest in which the Green & Gold stunned the conference by knocking off #13 Embry-Riddle (Fla.) 76-75 in a back-and-forth thriller.  The Lions converted over 48% of its shots from the field against an Eagles' squad that normally limits its opponents to 38.2% on the season.

Fifth-Year Forward Marty Jackson continues to have a remarkable season, shooting over 60% from the floor while averaging nearly three assists a game and a block a contest.  The Kansas City, Mo. native has averaged 19.5 points scored from the previous two games.

Saint Leo will have its hands full against Palm Beach Atlantic (3-1, 1-1 SSC), who comes off a 93-88 win over Rollins.  The Sailfish enter Saturday's game with a red-hot offense that recently shot nearly 54% from the floor and over 45% long range.  PBA's lone loss came against nationally-ranked Florida Southern after holding a double-digit lead and was one basket shy of pulling off the upset.  The Sailfish share the ball on offense, averaging 19.5 assists per game that is a second-best mark in the SSC.

With a balanced offense, the Navy & Silver have a number of threats.  While Will Lee leads the team in points (17.8) and averages 5.5 assists a game, Bryce Laskey was in a groove Wednesday night, posting 31 points shooting 11-for-15 against the Tars.  Both Lee and Laskey have been Palm Beach Atlantic's snipers, respectively averaging .467 and .550 from beyond the perimeter.

Marcus Montalvo leads the Sailfish with 2.3 steals and 5.8 assists a game.  Montalvo comes off a record-breaking night, setting PBA's school record for assists in a game (15) in a double-double performance that included 11 points.
