DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.- The Saint Leo women's basketball team fell to Young Harris Friday afternoon to open up the ERAU Holiday Classic. The Mountain Lions defeated the Lions, 68-61. With the loss Saint Leo drops to 7-3 on the season.
Young Harris was able to grab an early lead from Saint Leo. Despite the Lions fighting hard to chip away at the Mountain Lions lead, Young Harris was able to control the entire game not surrendering their lead to improve to 5-3 on the season.
"We had some positives, but surely not enough" said head coach
Anthony Crocitto. " I'm proud that they fought back and had an opportunity to tie in the closing minute, but its a lot when you are behind 17 in each of the last two games to find a way to rally and win."
Amanda Ulrich led the charge for the Lions in their first game of the Holiday Classic, leading the Green & Gold with 23 points. The senior finished shooting 8-of-14 from the floor and 3-of-6 from downtown.
Saint Leo was able to take advantage of their forced turnovers, scoring 27 points off turnovers. The Green & Gold bench was able to muster up 21 points utilizing substitutions throughout the game.
Alex Button logged 31 minutes for the Lions and finished second on the team in points with seven. She also finished second on the team with five boards and two steals.
Alanis Diaz led the Lions with seven boards.

The Lions will look to bounce back and close out the Holiday Classic against Davenport Saturday, December 17. Tipoff is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
