DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Saint Leo University volleyball team was in every set in a match could have seen momentum swung to either side, but the Lions were unable to close out each frame, falling in three sets to Embry-Riddle Tuesday night at the ICI Center.
Neither could hit better than .200, as the Lions (5-10. 1-6 SSC) finished with a .078 mark. Senior

Skylar Singleton was the only player in the contest to record a double-double with 14 assists and 11 digs.
Neither team led by more than four points in the opening set, as the frame saw seven lead changes. With Embry-Riddle (10-5, 4-3 SSC) leading 18-14, the Green & Gold went on a furious 7-1 run to take a late lead. The Eagles found a way to tie the set at 21 before Saint Leo scored the go-ahead point. The slim lead did not last long, as ERAU scored the final four points to win Set One 25-22.
After a 6-1 start by Embry-Riddle in the second set, the Lions began to work their way back in the contest before ultimately tying up the set at 16. The deadlock score was enough for the Eagles to fly on an immediate 5-1 run to retake a 21-17 lead. While Saint Leo trimmed the deficit to two points (22-20), the Lions did not see a lead in the second frame, as the Eagles added three more points to win 25-20.
Embry-Riddle jumped out to an 11-6 lead in Set Three before the Green & Gold executed its best run of the night, taking 12 of the next 15 points to lead over its Sunshine State Conference foe 18-14. The Lions pushed the score out to its largest lead of the night (22-17) before letting the lead slip away once again, ultimately costing Saint Leo in the third frame as the Eagles finished off the Green & Gold on an 8-1 run to escape with a 25-23 win and the sweep over the Lions in both the contest and in the regular season.
Saint Leo is back at home Friday to host #4 University of Tampa; first serve at the Marion Bowman Activities Center is scheduled for 7 p.m.
