SAINT LEO, Fla. – What began as a Saturday evening honoring the ten players that may have played their final home match of their career at Saint Leo University Soccer Field turned into a defensive slugfest waning into the night, as the Lions could not keep Nova Southeastern at bay, falling 2-0 to the Sharks.
Despite the defensive showing from Saint Leo (7-6, 2-5 SSC), the Lions were unable to capitalize on any of its four shots on goal, as the Sharks (5-4-3, 4-3-1 SSC) recorded five shots on target from 15 total shots taken.
The Green & Gold played from behind for nearly the entire contest, as Nova Southeastern took advantage of an early Lions' blunder in the third minute to go up 1-0. NSU would an insurance goal from Michael Lawrence late in the match to preserve a 2-0 win.
Despite the loss, the Lions have three more games remaining in its 2022 season, as the Lions remain four points out of the Sunshine State Conference playoff picture.
The Lions' road journey begins Saturday, as the Green & Gold will look to knock off #9 Florida Tech. Kickoff at Rick Stottler Field is slated for 7 p.m.
