Saint Leo Saint Leo fell to Tampa Wednesday in a heartbreaking overtime decision of 97-90. Despite Tampa being ranked 19th by the most recent D2SIDA poll and 21st by the WBCA NCAA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll, the Lions started strong, recording their largest lead of 29 points in the third quarter, but ended up falling in overtime to the SSC rivals. The loss snapped the Green and Gold's six-game win streak. Alex Button earned a season-high 25 points going 9-for-16 from the floor, 5-for-10 from the three-point range, and 2-for-2 at the free-throw line. Following Button closely on the scoreboard was Ayanna Trigg with her own career-high in the Green and Gold with 23 points. The graduate student forward went 10-for-16 from the hardwood and 3-for-4 from the charity stripe.
On the season, Ulrich paces the offense with 18.1 points per game (ppg) followed by Ayanna Trigg with 12.2 ppg, Alex Button who averages 11.7 ppg, and Kiki McIntyre with 10.9 ppg. Just shy of scoring double digits is Tori Lesko with 9.9 ppg. Off the boards, Ayanna Trigg leads the Lions with 7.8 rebounds per game (rpg). She is helped by Lesko with 6.4 rpg.
Ulrich tops the SSC in scoring with 253 points averaging 18.1 ppg. Trigg's 101 rebounds are the second most in the conference with 12.2 rpg. Meanwhile, Lesko has the best assist/turnover ratio with 44 assists and only 23 turnovers for a ratio of 1.9. McIntyre also tops the league's charts with the third highest steals with 36, 2.6 steals per game.
Lynn traveled to Nova Southeastern on Wednesday. The Fighting Knight's two-game win streak was snapped by the Sharks in a 67-59. Rachel Romich led the way with nine, while five other Fighting Knights scored between four and six points. Kelsi Fizer pulled down six rebounds, including three on the offensive glass.
On the season, Romich leads the offense with 11.1 ppg while Uloma Enyogasi is the Fighting Knight's main presence off the rim with 6.3 rpg.
Romich leads the SSC in three-point field goal percentage with an impressive .469-percent. Dani Lozzi leads the league is steals with 31, averaging 3.1 steals per game.
HISTORY: Lynn and Saint Leo last met on the basketball court on Feb. 22, 2022 when the Green and Gold upset the Fighting Knights in a 69-66 battle in the Bowman Center. Ulrich led the Lions to victory with 27 points.

Saint Leo fell in an 88-80 battle against Sunshine State Conference rivals, Tampa Wednesday night inside the Marion Bowman Activities Center. Francis Sio paced the Lions' offense with 25 points followed by Frank Webb Jr. with 23 points and Robert Fry with 19 points. Frank Webb Jr. recorded his fifth double-double leading the Lions off the iron with 11 rebounds. Cantia Rahming also pulled 11 rebounds, recording his personal season-high off the boards.
On the season, Sio leads the offense with 14.9 points per game (ppg) followed by three other Lions who average double digits in Webb Jr. (14.5), Wade Coomer (13.1), and Jared Coomer (12.9). Grant Disket enters the week just short of double digit ppg with 9.1. Frank Webb Jr. paces the Green and Gold off the window with 8.0 rebounds per game (rpg).
Among the SSC, Frank Webb Jr. has earned the second highest assists with 5.8 per game, 70 total. He also leads the league in steals with 49, averaging 4.1 a game.
Lynn fell to No. 3 Nova Southeastern on Wednesday. Missing a few key players, the Fighting Knights fell 89-72. Christian Peevy led the team with 19 points, but his streak of five-straight double-doubles came to an end, as he finished with nine rebounds to lead the Fighting Knights.
On the season, Peevy averages 19.8 ppg followed by Brandon Bornelus with 13.9 ppg, and Tommie Luke 11.0 ppg. Peevy is just shy of averaging a double-double with a team-high 9.5 rpg.
Among the SSC, Bornelus has earned the second highest assist/turnover ratio in the league with 2.9. He has tallied 55 assists and and only 19 turnovers. Cameron Gaines has earned the second most blocks with 21, with 1.8 blocks per game.
HISTORY: Last time the teams met was on Feb. 22, 2020, when Saint Leo topped the Fighting Knights, 99-82.
