SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo women's basketball team tallied its third consecutive win Saturday afternoon in the Marion Bowman Activities Center. The Lions rolled over the Rollins Tars 93-66 to improve to 12-5 on the season, 7-2 in the Sunshine State Conference (SSC). The decision lowered Rollins' record to 4-10, 1-8 in the SSC.
The Lions' offense was paced by starting point guard,
Kiki McIntyre, who recorded a career-high 26 points going 12-for-17 from the floor, including sinking her lone three-point attempt, and converting the only free throw awarded. In addition, McIntyre snagged eight rebounds off the glass, earned five steals, and an assist.
Ayanna Trigg registered her fifth double-double with 16 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. The 6'0 forward brought down a pair of offensive rebounds while earning eight off the defensive board. With the ball, she went 5-for-7 from the floor and knocked down 6-of-7 from the charity stripe. Trigg also earned four steals, a block, and a game-high eight assists.
Amanda Ulrich continues to be a threat anytime she has the ball in her hands. The junior guard handed in 19 points going 8-for-14 from the hardwood, 2-for-5 from beyond the circle, and 1-1 at the line. She helped the team with well-rounded game with six rebounds, an assist, a block, and a steal.
The fourth and final Lion to score double digit points was none other than
Alex Button with 11 points. Button went 3-for-9 from the field and converted all five free throw attempts.
Saint Leo started the night by jumping out to a double-digit lead at 11-0 with six minutes left in the first quarter. The Green and Gold never allowed the Tars to bring the game within single digits from that point on. The Lions recorded their largest lead of the night at 31 points in both the third and fourth quarters.
On Wednesday, Jan 19, Saint Leo will travel to Fort Lauderdale, Fla. on a business trip to Nova Southeastern. The Lions and Sharks are set to tip-off at 5:30 p.m.
