SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo women's soccer team took a 5-0 loss to No. 11 Columbus State Wednesday afternoon at the Saint Leo Soccer Field.
The Lions (1-5-1) saw a powerful strike by
Nina Mueller which forced a top shelf save on the left side and a dangerous low sling by
Arielle Jacus. Both goal-scoring opportunities were taken in the second half.
The Cougars (6-0-1) netted the go-ahead goal in the sixth minute. Following a lightning delay that interrupted the first half, Columbus State extended its lead to three before the halftime break.
The Peach Belt Conference visitors tallied two more before heading back to Georgia.
Maitane Bravo earned the start in which see saw 58 minutes of action. The redshirt senior whipped up five tremendous saves after facing 20 shots.
Alyssa Abernot jumped in for 33 minutes in the net where she collected a pair of saves.
Saint Leo will continue to enjoy play at home. The Green and Gold prepare to host Sunshine State Conference, Palm Beach Atlantic, on Saturday, Sept. 25 at 7:00 p.m.
