DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. –
Maitane Bravo continues to be a huge presence on the field for the Saint Leo women's soccer program. The redshirt senior goalkeeper earned seven saves in her Sunshine State Conference debut in the Green and Gold's conference opener at Embry-Riddle Sunday night. Despite Bravo's enormous game, the Lions were unable to cage the Eagles. Embry-Riddle (3-1, 1-0 SSC) clinched the 1-0 final tallying a late game-winner in the 78
th minute.
Saint Leo (1-3-1, 0-1 SSC) recorded six shots off four different boots.
Nina Mueller led the attack with three shots followed by
Becca Regensburger,
Caitlin Strong, and
Alexa Guido with a shot apiece.
After 77 minutes of back-and-forth action, the Eagles were awarded their fifth corner kick of the night. The service by Isabelle Navren met Hattie Kettle on the far post and slipped through to the back of the net.
On Wednesday, Sept. 22, the Lions will compete in one more non-conference game before closing out the season against Sunshine State Conference opponents. The Columbus State Cougars of the Peach Belt Conference will visit Saint Leo, Fla. for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff at the Saint Leo Soccer Field.
