#22 Women’s Lacrosse Dispatches Florida Tech; Four Lions Celebrate Hat tricks

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The No. 22 Saint Leo Lions dispatched the Florida Tech Panthers 14-7 at University Turf Stadium on Wednesday. It was a bucket-HAT kind of day in the Florida Sunshine. The non-conference game saw four Lions earn hat tricks as the Green and Gold swept the two-game season series over the Panthers.
 
Delaney Chrisco and Ashlee Wilsynski each netted four goals in four-point performances. In addition to Chrisco's four goals off seven shots, Chrisco added three draw controls, three ground balls, and two caused turnovers to her day. Meanwhile, Lia Lamendola put up a career-high four points scoring a hat trick and an assist. Fiona McLaughlin found the back of the net three times as the team's leading goal scorer with 18 on the season. Meghan Bomleny dished out a career-high four assists as the game's biggest playmaker.
 
Off the draw, Ashley Salvett paced the Lions with four draws. The standout defender also collected a game-high five ground balls and caused a turnover.
 
Goalkeeper Emma Crafton earned a career-high 11 saves raising her record in the cage to 2-3. The Naples, Florida native faced 21 shots and helped the Lions on the ride going 16-for-19 in clears.

How it Happened
The Green and Gold did not waste any time, jumping to a 4-0 start. Florida Tech got on the board with back-to-back goals but was answered by another four-goal by the Lions, 8-2. Both teams exchanged a goal before the break recording a 9-3 halftime score.
 
The Panthers outscored the Lions 3-1 in the opening 10 minutes which brought the game within four at 10-6. Wilsynski, Chrisco, Lamendola, and McLaughlin each took their respective turns finding the back of the net in the last ten minutes. The offensive burst outscored Florida Tech 4-1 to secure the seven-point win, 14-7.

On Saturday, April 10, Saint Leo will travel to West Palm Beach, Fla. to face the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish. The conference match is slatted to start at 3 p.m.

Saint Leo University Athletics is keeping our student-athletes healthy and safe by following a number of measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. This includes having student-athletes tested or screened on a regular basis, traveling in smaller groups, holding competitions without fans in attendance, avoiding overnight trips, and wearing masks when not competing. These safety standards meet those set by the NCAA Division II and the Sunshine State Conference President's Council. At Saint Leo University, the COVID-19 Incident Command Team also reviews the teams' safety protocol and monitors adherence on a regular basis.
