#3 Men's Tennis Hauls in Number Seven During Senior Day

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The third-ranked Saint Leo men's tennis team hauled in their seventh straight win, remaining undefeated at 7-0, 6-0 in the Sunshine State Conference (SSC). The Lions spent the Wednesday afternoon taking care of the 12th-ranked Florida Southern Moccasins, 5-2, in a non-conference match. Before the first serve, the Green and Gold opened the afternoon honoring the program's six seniors: Armindo Nhavene Jr., Lahcen Boujadi, Aurel Ciocanu, Willem Van Den Akker, Leo Vega, and Noel Kunz.

Saint Leo snagged the doubles point seeing victories at the first and second flights. The dynamic duo, Alexander Parker and Christopher Traut, thus far, have proven unstoppable at the doubles first flight. Today's 6-3 win raised their season record to 6-0.

In singles action, Aurel Ciocanu remains undefeated. The senior captured a first flight 6-4, 6-3 win to raise his season singles mark to 7-0. Ciocanu's quick match point was followed by three long battles for the team win. Beyond Ciocanu's two-set win, every Lion either faced a tiebreaker situation or was sent into a third set.

Ghali Mensour, Kayne Trustfull, and van den Akker got it done in their respective third, fourth, and fifth flights against the Mocs in the Lions' home season finale.

Keeping Our Lions Healthy & Safe
Saint Leo University Athletics is keeping our student-athletes healthy and safe by following a number of measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. This includes having student-athletes tested or screened on a regular basis, traveling in smaller groups, holding competitions without fans in attendance, avoiding overnight trips, and wearing masks when not competing. These safety standards meet those set by the NCAA Division II and the Sunshine State Conference President's Council. At Saint Leo University, the COVID-19 Incident Command Team also reviews the teams' safety protocol and monitors adherence on a regular basis.
