SAINT LEO, Fla. – The No. 23 Saint Leo women's lacrosse team defeated the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish 20-9 during the program's senior day on Saturday. The Lions wrapped up the 2021 home schedule honoring
Delaney Chrisco,
Ashley Salvett,
Emma Crafton, and
Nina Urban.
The strong victory celebrated a second name to share the single-game points program record title.
Ashlee Wilsynski matched Leslie Ferguson's 10-point performance, which she set April 6, 2019 at Palm Beach Atlantic. Wilsynski, a sophomore from Baltimore, Maryland showcased double-digit points scoring five goals and five assists off nine shots and added a ground ball and one draw control.
Every active player on the Lions' roster saw action in the non-conference meeting with Palm Beach Atlantic. One goal particularly electrified the entire complex as teammates and parents alike jumped to their feet. Defender
Ashley Salvett recorded a season-high nine draw controls and then topped off her last appearance at University Turf Stadium with her first collegiate goal.
The monumental day continued as freshman goalkeeper
Liz Clark made her first collegiate appearance and recorded her first save as a Lion. Senior
Emma Crafton earned six saves in 41 minutes of work followed by
Rachel Smythe who earned a stop in 11 minutes of action.

How it Happened
Tied at one goal apiece in the 23
rd minute, Saint Leo generated an eight-goal run off six different sticks. The Sailfish squeezed in a pair of goals before the break for a halftime score of 9-3. After the first 30 minutes, Wilsynski had already registered a hat trick and two assists for five points.
The Lions earned the running clock advantage after a five-goal run bringing the game to 16-5 with 16 minutes remaining. Palm Beach Atlantic would cut the gap back down to nine goals off a three-goal run. Salvett's goal put back a double-digit lead for the Lions in the last two minutes of the game.

Saint Leo University Athletics is keeping our student-athletes healthy and safe by following a number of measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. This includes having student-athletes tested or screened on a regular basis, traveling in smaller groups, limiting the number of fans in attendance, avoiding overnight trips, and wearing masks when not competing. These safety standards meet those set by the NCAA Division II and the Sunshine State Conference President's Council. At Saint Leo University, the COVID-19 Incident Command Team also reviews the teams' safety protocol and monitors adherence on a regular basis.
