BOCA RATON, Fla.- No. 23 Saint Leo softball traveled to Lynn University and swept the twinbill Thursday to open the series with a two-game head start after winning game one 10-0, in five innings, before rallying to take game two, 5-1. In the first game of the night, Saint Leo graduate student,
Kacie Kelly, tied the program's career doubles record with her 50th career double in her second plate appearance.Â

Saint Leo tallied 18 hits on the day with three doubles between the two games where
Bayley Williams and
Alli Jaquith paced the team with three hits apiece.
Grace Spitulski,
Alyssa Perez, and
Kacie Kelly each notched two hits, one each for a double.

Morgan Shannon and
Madi Mott each picked up a win on the day while the duo was joined by
Rachel Bean in the circle as the pitching staff to see action Thursday. Shannon, who tossed the five-inning complete game one, and Mott, who earned the win in game two after tossing five innings, each tallied six strikeouts.

Saint Leo started things off early with a quick run in the first off an
Alexis Miniet single, scoring
Bayley Williams. The Lions followed that up with four in the second, off a three-run double by
Kacie Kelly, two in the third, and then three in the fifth.

In the game, the Lions scattered eight hits from eight different players with
Kendyl Crean,
Alli Jaquith, and
Bayley Williams leading the way in scoring two runs apiece. Â

Morgan Shannon pitched a gem going the distance, five innings, facing just one batter over the minimum allowing no hits, and just a single walk on the day. Shannon tallied six strikeouts for her second win of the season as she closed the door on the Fighting Knights with three straight strikeouts in the bottom of the fifth, despite falling behind on 3-0 on the second batter.

Lynn opened up the scoring in the non-conference tilt in the first, but the Lions rallied for four in the fourth and one in the sixth. The Fighting Knights stranded two runners in the sixth but
Madi Mott and the Lions defense shut down the Fighting Knight to hold Lynn scoreless for the final six innings of play.

As a group, Saint Leo knocked nine base hits in the game as
Bayley Williams led the way with a pair.

Mott earned her second win of the season after coming in for relief for
Rachel Bean, who made her first appearance in the circle this season. Bean tossed the first two innings allowing one run on one hit with one walk while Mott hurled the final five innings allowing no runs on three hits with six strikeouts.
