Women’s Basketball Season Opener Postponed

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo women's basketball season opener scheduled for Wednesday, February 24 at Florida Southern has been postponed due to COVID-19 protocol. Saint Leo will turn its attention to Saturday, February 27 to host Palm Beach Atlantic at 4 p.m. in the Marion Bowman Activities Center.
 
Last year, against the Sailfish, the Lions caught a pair of wins in a 76-52 decision at home followed by another dominant victory on the road, 73-56.
 
 
How to Watch
Game times were altered due to no overnight travel, and there will be no fans inside the arenas at any of the regular season games. Lions fans are able to watch the game and follow live stats via the Sunshine State Conference Digital Network where the Green and Gold's eight games will be streamed and carry live statistics. Building on Success: Looking Back on 2019-2020
  • Last season, the Lions (15-15, 10-10 SSC) hosted a conference postseason game for the first time in program history, hauled in two distinguished SSC All-Conference honors in returners Amanda Ulrich and Alani Gallagher, advanced to the SSC Tournament Semi-finals appearance, recorded the program's fifth all-time SSC Tournament Team member, and saw the individual game record shattered in a 40-point performance.
  • The Lions return leading scorer, Ulrich who averaged 17.4 points per game (PPG), 40.4 field goal percentage (FG%), 34.2 three-point field goal percentage (3FG%), 79.7 free throw percentage (FT%), 87 assists, and tallied 44 steals. Gallagher, the team's second-highest scorer of last year, put up 13.7 PPG, registered a 46.9 FG%, 44.4 FG%, led the team in rebounds with 8.4 rebounds per game (RPG), and earned 33 blocks. Alex Button also returns after sinking 54 three-pointers translating to 12.7 PPG, 46.5 FG%, 43.2 3FG%, 85.4 FT%
  • At the helm is fifth-year head coach, Anthony Crocitto, with assistant coaches Tesh Johnson and Sabrina Whiting. Crocitto will direct a 16-man roster after welcoming four freshmen, three transfers, and nine returns.
