SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo Department of Athletics will honor the 2021 Sunshine State Conference Men's Basketball Tournament Champions with a ring ceremony on December 8, 2021 during halftime of the Saint Leo versus Texas A&M International women's basketball game. The following day, the men's team hosts Fort Lauderdale where fans and spectators can get FREE admission with a donation of a minimum of four canned food items.  Â
Â
The ring ceremony will honor the 2021 SSC Tournament Champions where head coach
Lance Randall led his squad to seven-straight victories to earn the program's first conference tournament championship and second overall championship under his direction. The Lions captured the 2012-13 Regular Season SSC Championship during Randall's first tenure as Saint Leo's head coach (2011-15) before he returned in 2019 to lead the Lions to their first tournament championship in just his second season back at the helm of the Lions' program.
Â
The very next day the 2021-22 Lions will take the court to battle in-state foe the University of Fort Lauderdale. In order to help the local community, the Lions will offer free admission to any fan who brings a minimum of four canned food items. These items are desperately needed by local charities during this holiday season to feed the many families around the Saint Leo and Tampa Bay region. The Saint Leo men's basketball program strives to be a standout partner within the community doing several community service hours throughout the year as well as other projects similar to this canned food drive.
Â
The Lions will be back in action this Saturday, Dec. 4 as the nationally-ranked Embry-Riddle Eagles visit the Marion Bowman Activities Center for a 4 p.m. Sunshine State Conference contest.
