Lions Sink Lakers in Day Two of the Hilton Garden Inn Tampa-Wesley Chapel Classic

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo Lions captured their fourth straight victory sinking the Lake Superiors State Lakers, 86-51 Saturday afternoon inside the Marion Bowman Activities Center. The non-conference victory over the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) foes improved the Lions' overall record to 7-4 while the Lakers' season mark fell to 2-7.

Kiki McIntyre has enjoyed the Hilton Garden Inn Tampa-Wesley Chapel Classic tremendously. The sophomore guard broke her own career-high, which she tallied last night, registering her first career double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds. McInytre went 10-for-13 from the floor and made the only three-pointer she attempted. In addition, she earned a game-high six assists and tallied four steals.

"Kiki dominated both ends of the floor and might have pursued a triple-double if playing time allowed," expressed head coach Anthony Crocitto.

"This was another tremendous game from Amanda. She has really got her numbers going for quite a few games in a row now." Amanda Ulrich paced the Green and Gold offense with 23 points going 7-for-14 from the hardwood, going 4-for-8 from beyond the circle.

How It Happened
Saint Leo edged Lake Superior State 17-15 in the first ten minutes of action. After each team got a look at the other, Saint Leo made adjustments to shut down the Lakers' offense. Crocitto complimented the Lions' run, "Our defense was impressive in the second and third quarters as we really moved our lead significantly." The Green and Gold outscored their visitors by 17 points in the second, 12 points in the third for a combined 29 points.

"It was nice to see some high energy from Jenni Whitlow and Triniti Youngblood as we will need that more and more as the Sunshine State Conference season grinds on."

Lake Superior State found a couple more buckets under the basket in the fourth tally some points on their side of the scoreboard, but Saint Leo would ultimately never look back on their way to the dominant victory of 86-51.

"The bench was fantastic in the fourth quarter, scoring 20 points and getting everyone involved. I love the balanced scoring and seeing six people score more than six points. We were also very solid from the three-point range and at the foul line," concluded Crocitto.

Up Next
Saint Leo will enjoy the Holiday break and will then return to action inside the Bowman Center on New Year Eve action against SSC foe, Palm Beach Atlantic. The Lions and Sailfish are set to tip-off at 4:00 p.m.
